Fashion v's Sportswear

Fashionv_event_full

Great exhibition kicking off at the mighty V&A in London this week linking up the intense bond between fashion and sportswear.

hot to trot

So as per usual we have been out on the street checking you guys out, hunting for the trend setters that are moulding this summers high street. We are watching!

Cute accessories always make an outfit, dress in basics and jazz them up with little extras like tote bags and belt details.

Hey Junior Farrell, thanks for showing people effortless style is totally obtainable! This guys good, down to the precise angle on his hat, the tint in his sunnies. NOTE: bold vintage slogan T-Shirts go a long way!

All over print hoodies - fail safe. Mix and match belts to compose yourself

We don't know one brand that has not had a go at the Harrington jacket in their career. It sharpens you up in one fluid movement (your zipper boys). check out our selection of jackets.

Now listen, we know that the word 'crew neck' has probably been missing from your vocab for some months, seasons even. That's because the fashion Mogul's have used their willy wonka style brain washing to take it off the radar. For those of you that have gone against the grain, thanks. We are big fans of the 'crew' and were expecting a planned revenge. Lets bring it back.

If we had a plane

We would take you guys to this! So good!

Atticus team up with The Automatic for next DIY show!

Atticus are set to bring the biggest band yet in for the fourth in their hugely successful series of DIY shows (previous shows have inlcuded sets from Gallows, Cancer Bats and Madina Lake). On August 12th, The Automatic will play a one off free show at the Old Blue Last in Hoxton for the brand. Support will come from hotly tipped Haunts and Viva Machine. As with the other shows in the series, it will be a free show and on a first come first serve basis in the spirit of the true punk rock shows of old. The Automatic are set to burst back onto the scene with their bold second album ‘This Is A Fix’, an album that should see them reach even bigger success than thier massive debut ‘Not Accepted Anywhere’.

Main support Haunts, have spent the last year sharing stages
with the likes of Funeral For A Friend and Boy Kill Boy and are due to hit big with the release of their debut album later this year.. Openers Viva Machine are also a band on the rise, and will no doubt be in all your faces very very soon. The DIY show series is just another example of why Atticus is the premier music related brand. At a time when product placement and sponsorship is commonplace and stale, Atticus continues to take it all a step beyond. The brand works closelt with the bands on it’s roster (a roster that includes, Bloc Party,
LostPrpohets and Gallows) on a personal level that sets it apart from any other brand, something recognised by the fact that bands like The Automatic will gladly play a free show in a tiny, sweaty room for the brand.

The brand’s AW08 range is set to drop in September and see’s
Atticus embracing the stylings of the classic english punk rock scene, whilst simaltaneously taking the brand into a classier more stylish realm as well. For more information on the show or the new Atticus AW08 range go to www.atticusclothing.com

Take your room on tour!

So while i (Gucci Van Halen) was taking a little stroll around the web, i came across the smartest (but over priced) desk known to man. If your a music fan of all proportions, then this ones for you.

Ever wanted a sweet tour case for your room? You know, like the ones you see being loaded out of a venue after and evening of sweaty adrenalin. One you can put all your worldly possessions in and call it your own?

Well now you can. Trust Japan to get absorbed in the culture of life on the road and bring it to their own homes. Check out this web site where you can get a flight case desk/ organiser in the style of a tour case. Pop a few stickers on it and drag it through a few side streets and you have your own authentic road case. Be a road dog with us!

Style camp / Music / Party party!

Indie-pop bimonthly Twee as Fuck celebrates it's first birthday with a characteristically cute 11-hour musical celebration at the Macbeth. Birthday treats include a special one-off fanzine, cupcakes (naturally), art and photography. Music is supplied by evergreen underground rocksters Comet Gain, doe-eyed songstress Theoretical Girl, fuzzy Brighton seven-piece Esiotrot and Norwiegian ones-to-watch the Margarets. Twee as Fuck resident DJs Jude Georges and Hot Girl Photographers are joined by White Heat's Olly Parker.

More Bread and Butter radness!

So it's super sunny out, you're at the biggest fashion trade show in Europe. What you gonna do? surf around and sniff out some rad brands that are about to break or just holding their own in the race for radness? HELL YEAH YOU ARE! Take a quick breeze over the brands we are loving and looking to support.

Atticus clothing was exhibiting in the Sport & Street hall (where we spent most of our time). This brand has got the world of rock music totally nailed with their punk rock approach to every day fashion. Supported by an astounding amount of bands (more than we knew) this brand has a real family vibe for any musician, music fan and john doe who just wants a rad T graphic or piece of knitwear. Get some Atticus clothing here.

Insight
launched an insane new campaign entitled `Dopamine'. These guys are a one stop craft house and don't tend to out source anything. Apart from the obvious skill set of designing one of the coolest brands out there right now, these guys both shoot, style and direct every piece of creative that comes out the other end. Oh the Envy.

Excuse the poor photos here guys, but we were rushing around and overwhelmed to be honest. Let me Introduce April 77 Records. Now these guys take the concept of music inspired fashion to a totally new level. These guys make clothing and release records, but fuse the tow elements by attaching small records to their garments. It's genius! Total genius!

Those darling Lowlifers have baffled us again. Somehow, season after season this company manage to churn out some of the most innovative belt designs, styles and techniques known to man. I mean we know its their speciality, but guys! They also have a super cool urban street punk ethos behind them - this brand never lets us down.

If you're a bit of a trainer guru, you will know that Reebok have been assaulting every angle of the urban world. Now I don't know about you, but we remember Reebok as the second rate to Nike when we were in the playground- Damn, have they come along way. Velcro straps, all over prints, checkers and splats - these guys are set to make a big impression.

Yo Try This crop up in the rad ranks because a) they have the word yo in their name which is always fun, and b) this t shirt is out of control! Oh how we would love to forward this to Disney and work it into that trippy Fantasia movie. Go LA.

We don't even know who's stand this was. All we know it is super gangster and there were dudes getting live neck tattoos! your turn next!

Bread & Butter trade show

Here are some awesome brands we were digging at the B&B trade show last week - some old and some new. Keep a close eye on these brands - they might just be the future!

I Saved Laurence
is a UK brand based out of Portobello Road. The label is sold in the largest fashion store in the world - Topshop, Oxford Circus and up and down the country in various independent boutiques. The brand is also expanding into Europe and worldwide. We think you should get pumped about it! They are a friendly bunch and Laurence wants to eat cakes with you. Fact!

Converse did their usual stunt of building out a huge stand getting some local rock bands to play and putting all efforts into their incredibly powerfull line up of sponsored artists. These bold black and white wall graphics were everywhere with the likes of Gallows, Santogold and Pharrell joining forces to rep their favourite sneakers. Shit, if you don't own a pair of chucks by now you're a rock 'n' roll failure. Fix it now!

So this week we have been at the B&B trade show in Barcelona checking out which brands are on the up and which ones are sinking. We found a world of cool stuff from jewellery to footwear, and saw a few familiar faces along the way. Musicians like Frank from Gallows, Santogold and Pharrell, are fronting this years Converse campaign which is pretty cool!
